During the initial phase of the project, stakeholder(s) did not receive adequate information concerning project time line, cost or other unique project characteristics.

Impact

The impact of stakeholder communication issues can be short term or long term in nature. For instance, the client may lack a piece of information at an important milestone during the project and delay a certain phase on your end from moving forward. Over the long term, miscommunication stemming from the initial contact may lead the client to handle the product incorrectly and create more work for you.

Recommendation

To avoid miscommunication in the early stages of the project, it is important to understand the perspective of the client. You may know what will come down the road but the stakeholder may not have your same experience. It is also important to be clear, concise and strategic with how you convey knowledge your stakeholder must understand.
