In quest of serenity in your SME ?

To the owners or executive managers of SMEs looking for serenity and time control, even if they rarely think of it spontaneously, I like to advise to start with the implementation of a 5S system.

Impact

And this rather than a management or problem-solving system, even if it more often corresponds to their natural expectations. Why ?

Recommendation

1. It is an excellent opportunity to learn to work as a team, around a common objective, with a participative approach where everyone puts their hands in the dough and takes possession of their own destiny. Excellent training before tackling the biggest challenges together. 2. The results are tangible and visible to everyone, including your customers and shareholders. The message is clear: the transformation has started and it shows! 3. You ideally prepare the ground for the next stages of your transformation, by giving high visibility to anomalies. To deal with problems, you must first be able to detect them. And you, what do you think?

  1. 5S and whole Lean approach is inevitable also to enhance efficiency of an existing project management system. Separating a vivid project activities from those ineffective ones using 20:80 Parreto rules or reconstructing a hold points register or milestone checklist can represents part of such imaginary 5S housekeeping within a project mamagement process.
