The definition of the project management professionality.

Impact

Project management professional competence is the ability to effectively use the personal general competences, knowledge, experience, professional skills and personal attitudes for successful exercise of the project manager and program manager profession. IPMA defines these competences in IPMA ICB-4. Project management professional competence according to ICB includes three competence areas: practice competences, people competences and perspective competences.

Recommendation

Project management professional competence can be credibly proved by the certification of project management specialists e.g. according to the standard IPMA ICB-4. The majority of the applicants for the project management specialist certificate are excellent professionals for the project scope. The economics and the human resource management they learned mostly – some of them very good, the others worse off – from own mistakes, in home study or in workshops and seminars.
