Impact

Project steering committee is a supreme management authority in the project organization. It is a group of authorized delegates of all interested parties, responsible for the project governance and for the project success.

Recommendation

The members of the project steering committee should be: project owner, project manager and the representatives of other interested parties. The project steering committee reviews and confirmes the project basic documents and solves the issues of the interested parties according to the rules, agreed in advance. The decisions are taken in contrast to the project board by direct vote of the project steering commitee members majority. This allows to all interested parties the efficient participation in the project management and is the basis for their common responsibility for the project success. All project steering committees in the program are responible to the program manager.
