MOTIVATION

Success Problem

Motive is a need that requires satisfaction. Motivation is the reason for people's actions, willingness and goals. An individual's motivation may be inspired by others or events (extrinsic motivation) or it may come from within the individual (intrinsic motivation).

Impact

Intrinsic motivation is the self-desire to analyse one's capacity, or to observe and to achieve a goal. It is driven by an interest or enjoyment in the task it-self, and exists within the individual rather than relying on external pressures or a desire for consideration. Extrinsic motivation are rewards (for example money or grades) for showing the desired behaviour, and the threat of punishment following misbehaviour.

Recommendation

The most simple distinction between extrinsic and intrinsic motivation is the type of reasons or goals that lead to an action. While intrinsic motivation re-fers to doing something because it is inherently interesting or enjoyable, ex-trinsic motivation refers to doing something because it leads to a separable outcome. Extrinsic motivation allows individuals to become easily motivated and work towards a goal but it will only last as long as the external rewards are satisfying.
