Post project benefit validation

Customer declares benefits expected in Business Case.

Impact

Project benefits not always reached as defined in Business Case which may lead to issues.

Recommendation

It is strongly recommended to perform a post project benefit validation and compare with expected benefits as declare earlier in Business Case and explain customer the time and resource constraints pointing to projects prioritization with higher added value.

  1. It may be in the best interest of the customer (and project team for that matter) to prioritize expected project benefits in the Business Case to highlight what's the most important in the worse case when or if not all benefits can be achieved by the post project benefit validation period.
